Re: Evinrude Fastwin 18hp 1957 help needed!
sauersr, first off, welcome to Iboats!

I would say that you're list is near perfect, except you should do a compression check first. That'll confirm that all the expensive and hard to get parts are good. You want to see 90psi or over on both cylinders, and most importantly, you want to see less than 10% variance.

You must get an OEM carburator kit from a Johnson/Evinrude dealer, since the aftermarket ones don't include a float. You can get one
here too. OEM #439071.
OEM Coils, condensors and points, and water pump impeller can be gotten from the dealer, or aftermarket ones can be purchased from NAPA autoparts, as well as many places online. Aftermarke part numbers are:
18-5181 - Coil (you'll need 2). Cheapest I've found is $13 each online.
18-5006 - Ignition tune up kit (~$15) (you'll need 1)
18-3002 - Water pump impeller (~$10) (you'll need 1)

I'm sure others will have suggestions too.

EDIT - I forgot, if your compression test works out, you'll want to get yourself a manual. You can order an original service manual
here. You can order an aftermarket one from Iboats. The OEM one is more detailed and is particulair to your engine. The aftermarket one is geared more toward beginners and gives alternatives to using special tools. The OEM one is generally considered superior.
Sometimes they turn up on ebay pretty cheap. I don't see any for your engine right now though. Just some (later 18hp) parts books.

Good luck!
