Evinrude FICHT ECM to Johnson FICHT ECM?

Hello, first time posting on the site. I have a question. Will the ECM from a 1998 Evinrude FICHT swap over to a 1998 Johnson FICHT, or will there have to be a lot of flashing and reprogramming? The part number (586237) is the same for both.

Thanks,

I hope to he!! you are joking...
Same P/N will swap.
Johnson and Evinrude are the same....jeeeeeezzzzzzzz.

If you use the ECM, be sure to get the updates done.
I forget the company, but others here know it exactly.

God......I hope you are joking.

There ya go...that's the company. I knew someone would chime in.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I knew about DFI already. I'm just looking at second-hand, much cheaper possibilities to rule out my no start condition. I'm taking the same approach on the powerpack as well. I suspect the powerpack is the culprit, and I'm going to pick up a working used one off of ebay. If that does the trick, then I'll ship my originals to DFI for rebuilds and upgrades. They buy rebuildable cores, so now that I have an extra ECM it will help defray the cost somewhat. Motor otherwise is stellar, with all of the recall work done years ago. Motor has good compression, and has fewer than 100 hours on it (sat more than ran).

OK, so just to finish this thread off, I was able to correctly diagnose a failed ignition module. DFI repaired it & got it back to me. Case closed!
