We have a 135 hp Evinrude with the Ficht fuel injection system that was manufactured around 2000. The fuel test port blew out of the line because of too much pressure. There was a minor explosion that cracked the fiberglass housing over the motor and a small fire. We were able to extinguish the fire and the dealer repaired the motor according to manufacturer instructions using a new part that eliminated the test port. The problem has reoccured but this time caused another part to fail because of the pressure we have had a second fire but a little less damage. I have heard that this is not an uncommon problem and would like to know if others are aware of similar occurences.

Re: Evinrude Ficht Inj Fuel Test Port Problem

If you think the fuel rail pressure is too high, then there may be a problem in the pressure regulator or the cone shaped filter inside the vapor tank is clogged.

It would be best to check the fuel pressure and post it here.

what is the engine model number?
