wow thats alot of motor! the ficht motors are great. what the ficht injection is, injection that utilizes low fuel rail pressure and has a pump in the injector itself to pressurize the fuel. how much better it will run the the yammy, not much it may last a little longer but its harder to fins someone that knos how to work on the ficht motor. if you want a quiet motor, you want that yamaha. you can idle them down to a low rpm and you cant even hear them runnign kinda like newer cars. either motor will be good it all depends on what you want out of the boat. fuel economy and performance from one, quiet, simple, performance from the other

Thats alot of power for a 23'boat. i would consider maybe twin 150s. What kind of boat and what is the hull weight? A 3000 lb boat and add another 1000lbs for live well w/water;gas ; weight of maximum people on board etc.,all you may need is a single 200-225hp. From what I read Yamaha seems to be in the lead sales and less break downs. That's according to statistics. Don't take my word for it. :p With what evinrude is offering, I can't see how you cango wrong. Let you and I hope that Bombardier did perfect this motor. Go to www.evinrude.com and click on NEWS and you will get the warranties. And you decide.

i have looked at the regulator but am considering a kencraft 235 which weighs about 4500# it has very similiar specs as the regulator but cost about 25% less. it is a center console.

Starting in 2002, Bombardier not so much redesigned, as drastically improved the quality control, on what OMC had been producing.

Actually, the FICHT re-design came out with the 2000 models. It was called the FICHT Ram system and had numerous improvements in parts and in calibration and ECU's. One such change is the addition of an exhaust pressure sensor to fine tune the mixture and timing.

Bombardier greatly improved the quality of the parts and manufacturing, and made a few small engineering changes to the motors, but did not redesign them. They knew a good thing when they saw it.

I spoke with an engineer at Bombardier last week at length about this same subject and his reply was "107" changes. Every part had to earn it's job. I think Bomb will have an excellent product, but it's just gonna take some time to heal some wounds. Plus you can't go wrong with the warranty. Good luck.
