Evinrude fuel fitting

Can I replace this evinrude 2 prong fitting on the engine with a compression fitting like the one in the picture. Thanks in advance

Yes you can.-----The fitting on that Evinrude has already been changed from the original in 1956 I believe.

The 2-prong fitting has been in use for eons. Parts available galore. Male and female. Why change to an oddity?
