Re: Evinrude fuel/oil ratio

High trim,

I fished Lake Simcoe past Toronto there many times. Every October we went go there for the perch. Excellent! Are you near that lake?
I know you guys had a terrible winter there too. Probably the same as we had in Michigan. Worst ever!! Just waiting for the spring thaw to get my boat out. Looking for a newer rig to take out on the big lakes. (the great lakes around our state, Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie & Superior, but never fished on Lk Superior yet).

Yes Simcoe is near me, famous for their perch.

I am a Walleye angler as well, they don't get anywhere near 14 lbs in my little lakes up north though!

I hear lake St Clair has some good Musky fishing as well. I would like to try it one day.

Yes, Lk. St. Clair is very well known for her musky AND bass. It is not unusual to get 7 or 8 muskies in one day. I caught four of them last year while pan fishing with a hook under a bobber! the muskies are huge too. The musky guys target the 50 pounders. A lot caught that size but the average is probably 35-40 pounds. You may only keep one per season and need to put your musky tag on it. Nobody keeps them unless it is a wall hanger trophy!

The bass are huge too. Mostly small mouths. We get them to 7 pounds and many, many in the 5-6 pound class. You can go out and get 30-40 in a day of bass fishing during our catch and release season. That is when they are spawning and you cannot keep them. When the regular season opens up, you can still go out and catch a 8-10 per day, but you can only keep 5 of them. Not too many perch around any longer due to the musky, pike and bass eating them, that's why I go to Lk. Simcoe perch fishing. We do fantastic there! If you ever want info on the musky fishing, contact me here and I will give you the info or contact each other some way.

Great info thanks. Sounds like I should take a trip to that lake one day.

I would never keep a muskie. That is a fish I feel should be kept for others to enjoy. I actually don't keep very much at all. More of a catch and release all summer long. I have a lot of Crappie, and enjoy eating them, so usually target them if I want some fish to eat. Maybe the odd Walleye if it isn't too big, try to leave the breeders alone.
