I've owned an '82 Glastron ski boat with an Evinrude 115 since new. After experiencing some fuel starvation problems, I installed a fuel pump kit. I haven't been to the lake yet, but I have noticed much better starting here at home with the "ear-muff" water connection! My questions: 1) Is 20 years a long time for the original pump components to work (moderate summer use)
2) How does the pump work? I figure it uses pressure or vacuum from the motor to move the diaphragm, right?
3) Any advice for checking/cleaning out the built-in fuel tank?
4) After 20 years (using OMC fuel conditioner during storage), do you think these carbs need cleaned, and how should I do that, if so?

This rig has been rock solid. I've only had to replace a starter solenoid and the trim sensor up to now!

Thanks for your help!

Eggman,
1) Yes, 20 Years is wonderful for a fuel pump!
2) Pump works on on pressure, as you said!
3) I would'nt worry about the tank. It is probably OK, since you did use conditioner in the lay-up period!
4) If it runs good, don't mess with a good thing!

Good Luck when you get to the Lake and let us know how she runs!
