I picked up this older Evinrude, the tag is off and has been spray bombed. Can anyone tell me approximately what year or model? Its needing some carburetor or fuel pump work.

It looks like a 4hp.. They did not changed much as far as I know.. The carb had a fixed high speed jet starting in 1978. And it went to CDI ignition in 1977. So if it has points and coils under the flywheel it is 1976 and older. Most other parts will be the same I think.

The solid blue face dates it at 1974 plus.. So if points ignition it is 1974 thru 1976 and if CDI ignition 1977.

Ok thank you it does have points ignition and I figured it was around a mid to early 70's model.

I took the carburetor off and it was pretty clean except for the main adjustment screw was stuck and not allowing fuel into carburetor.


​​​​​​Does anyone know where to get replacement knobs mine appear to be stripped. Or have another suggestion?
