Re: Evinrude Lark

That's a 57 Lark 35 hp. Should be worth at least that much if it hasn't been thrashed...check the usual stuff: compression, LU lube, wires, spark, etc.
Should push your pontoon along pretty well.

Re: Evinrude Lark

Thanks for the info on the engine.A couple more questions if you don't mind. 1. Is this engine a two or four stroke eng ? Is this a strong eng ? Meaning,Is it a durable eng ?Are they costly to repair considering the age of the engine and are parts for an engine this old readily available?Does this particular engine have any weak spots?meaning ,is there any one thing that seems to always go wrong with it ?
Thanks again

Re: Evinrude Lark

It's a two-stroke, you must mix oil in with the gas...16:1 was recommended when it was made, but you can go 24:1 with modern TCW-3 marine oil. It is very durable. Most parts are still readily available and prices are reasonable. The most common weak/wear spot I have found is the clutch dog in the gearcase, they wear out like any other part, and folks aggravate that by trying to ease the shift lever into Forward and Reverse. Make a quick, sharp shift instead...hopefully, your clutch dog isn't too worn. Check the FAQ section at the top of this forum section and read the Top Secret file...it'll tell you what you need to know to get your Lark ready for the water again.
