I just bought an Evinrude 4 lightwin at a sale. The serial/ID is 4906B E04327. Could anyone provide any technical data possible. Plug gap, point gap, fuel mixture, carb settings and any other useful info that would help in getting running. Thanks.
That is a 1969 engine, rolesky.

Plugs should be Champion J4C, I think, gapped at .030".

Point gap is .020".

Fuel mix is 50:1.

Mixture settings are individual to each engine and environment.

I suggest that you get a Service Manual. OEM is best. One supplier is kencook.com.

Good luck.
No, J6C is correct. The old numbers for that plug was J6J.

Have a look at the 3hp over on Tom Travis' site to get an idea for your 4hp:
http://www.outboard-boat-motor-repair.com/
There's just a few differences between the 4s and the 3s. These were probably the best small hp outboard ever built, by the way. Great purchase and if you've got some mechanical skills they can be tuned right up for a song. The pull-start can be a trial, but that's the only thing you can really say is bad on them.

PS - although OMC recommended 50:1 for those, I run mine with more oil mixed for very good reasons. Check out the oil mix FAQ in the FAQ forum for details.

Another PS - there's a '70 and '69 Factory service manual going on ebay right now. I think they're both Johnson but there no different than your 'Rude. In fact a few years later they combined the manuals. Use these search terms in ebay:
(4, 4hp) (johnson, evinrude) manual
I have a 1956 evinrude lightwin that I am trying to get running. I found a excellent website that a guy had made with a step by step instuctions. i believe his name was Tom Travis. Now I cant find it. My favorite wont take me there anymore. Does anyone know if he moved the site??
Hope this works. I've got a 71 and tuned up a 73 Johnson for a friend. They are fun motors. Later in life, not sure when, they were given shifters with forward/neutral/reverse which would be nice but you can't have it all. Once mine is warmed up it starts in half a pull so the shifter isn't completely necessary. Enjoy your motor and yes, get a manual. Rick.
