evinrude model/year, motor quit

i have an 18 hp (?) evinrude. s/n is 15020 10044. # on freeze plug is 15020 08212. # on flywheel is E O 304736. anyone know year, model and hp? Also, engine quit while out on lake (after shutting off to cast for a while, could not restart). was able to restart, but would not remain running longer than 30 seconds or so. now unable to start at all. any suggestions?

not to be funny,but the same thing happened to me one time.my old metal gas tank was sitting on top of the hose and pinching it off!!!!!

I have a 1956 10hp Evinrude that suffered from the same symptoms. The friend of mine that works on boat motors found a torn gasket in the carb that was allowing gasoline out. Bought a $15 gasket and she's running like a top now.<br />Not to say this is your problem, but it might be. Just a thought.<br />Good Luck.
