Evinrude Motor need year

I have an Evinrudedownunder and I need to find which year it belongs to. It supposedly is a 40Hp Model No 40554c. Serial No A116977. I would greatly appreciate if someone can help me out.<br />Thanks in advance. Rocky12

I can't come up with th 40554 but am getting a hit for all around it. this might give you some idea. which did come out to be a 40 h/p<br />\<br />1965 ---- 40502<br /> 40503<br /> 40552<br /> 40553<br /> 40562<br /> 40563<br /> 40572 <br /> 40573

Thanks mate I realy do appreciate your reply. I had no idea what year it was but had guessed it was an early model. I found some good id markers at our local dealer site Bomadier Recreational Products. ie CS 1980, CI 81, cn 82,etc but could not go back pre 1980. If you by chance happen to find anything else I wil be most greatful. <br />Cheers and thanks from downunder Rock12.
