Where are the model and serial numbers located on an 85HP evinrude ?

Once I find the numbers, how do determine the year of manufacture ?

They should be on plate on the transom bracket.

Sometimes they can also be found on a core plug on the power head

Post the numbers and someone will interpret them for you.
