Re: Evinrude: One overdone roaster to go
napa auto parts? Seriously? woo hoo!! I didnt know they dealt with them ... hmmmm, so its just a year older than I am, lol, the old man and his older motor ... it does look like a decent motor tho - the lower spark plug hole is apparently shot, the spark plug from the top doesnt screw into the bottom on, so maybe a heli coil would work - tho I have never personally put one in (and I used to fix cars for a living, go figure!)

there are bolts on the underneath side around the lower shroud ... they seem totally rusted, little lumps of brown that were once steel (really now, how much would it cost to put stainless on this beast at the price a company as big as OMC could get????? 2 or 3 bucks more TOPS? damn bean counters!)
anyways ...
have to finish up the water pump install on the old chevverlay today, then help the little lady with some curtains, then reinstall the toilet, lol, EVERYTHING IS GETTING IN THE WAY OF MY FUN!!!

but once cleared, time to roll ... I figure I could always just put a quickie floor in the Starcraft, hack some plywood into decking boards and just go with it, some cheapo patio carpet and bang together some seats, foam em and cover them with some vinyl, should look good and work well. Any ideas for a weatherproof heavy duty lazy susan sorta deal, I want to have swivel seats so I can steer the boat and then fish

so the parts list is helicoil, plugs, head gasket, carb kit (?) thermostat (most likely), the fuel pump is new from the looks of it

if compression is down, I have a ridge reamer and hone around here somewhere, how tricky is it to rebuild these things? I keep hearing about needle roller bearings, they dont use regular babbitt? (hmmmmm, no pressurized oil system, babbitt would be kinda tough)

The handle to the pull rope is melted, but not from heat, Ill take a picture of that today when on break, lol

the one woman hen pecking parade is buggin, Ill be checking back later

Thanks!
