evinrude outboard blocks/crack

i have a 1995 150 intruder. the motor has a water leak into the #1 piston. need help on what to do. can the block be welded? do i need to buy a new one and if i do where do i buy a new one and can i just buy the block? need help please. working on the motor myself....

Thats what is refered to as the "glue seam leak". The folks at Precision Manufacturing (Clearwater, FL) have a pretty good handle on how to fix it. They pull the sleeve, weld it and pressure check it. Give them a call at 727-442-4025 and speak to Norm or Tom. Nice people.<br /><br />The bad thing about buying a used one is that it may have or develop the same problem. <br /><br />Good luck!

Dhadley, How far down the line does this leaking seam scenario extend I have a friend looking at buying a 20 footer with a 1990 Johnson 140 with very low hrs. would this motor also be susceptible to cracking.

The V4 looper were not effected by this problem. Only the 60 degree V6's. <br /><br />Good luck!
