Evinrude Outboard Idle Problems

I have a 1991 8 HP Evinrude that ran great for many years, but has recently developed a low idle problem. It runs fine at a higher RPM, but won't stay running at low idle.
Gas is clean and right mix.
Gas line and fuel pump filter are free and clean.
Could the fuel pump be going bad? Any way to test the fuel pump?
Is there a low speed adjustment I could make?
Does anyone have any other suggestions on what is causing the low idle problem?

Thanks

Re: Evinrude Outboard Idle Problems

Before you give up you might try a decarb as explained all over this site. I thought, as you, that I had all my ducks lined up, but idle was rough and couldn't find any cause.

After decarbing (I use the addition of Sea Foam to the gas) over the last couple of months and the engine idles much smoother; starts easier, and restarts quicker.

Might want to try it before you start tearing things apart.

Mark
