Evinrude Outboard Motor Swap ?

I have a 1973 18hp long shaft great runner but really need a short shaft and found one same year and hp was wondering if I could swap the motor from the long shaft to the short if need be I'm not sure yet if the motor with the short shaft needs work or not. Thanks in advance for the help.

Sure can.That's much easier than having to change shaft lenghts and housings.

Depending on the condition of the powerhead you're swapping out if you find that it is necessary after inspection.You'll need the obvious parts like powerhead to exhaust housing gasket and such.All of the other hard part pieces, if in good shape,are reusable.
