I have a 1996 150 and the carbs leak fuel from the bottoms of the carbs. I purchased this motor new and it has not had any carb work in the past. Its getting harder and harder to start and it has a pause before it runs at full throddle. I'm not sure where to start with this problem, obvisously i need some suggestions.

It sounds like your carbs may need overhauling. The floats act like they're sticking. Does this motor get a lot of use each and every year, since you've owned it? If it only runs a few times a year, then internal parts in the carb can get sticky. Letting them sit for a few minutes with fresh gas can even loosen things up too.

I've got two of these motors, both leaked fuel out the bottom. More accurately it leaks out of a BB pressed into the sides of the bowls. When they are rebuilt you will need to put a dab of JB weld over the BB to seal it permanently. No more leaks now.

PS - Rebuilt those carbs. It's time. If not you risk a lean cylinder burning a piston when you least expect it. WAY more expensive than a carb re-build.

also if the motor is tilted and not running, they will leak, as the carb float will open, due to the angle, solutions disconnect fuel line when tilted and the motor is off.
