Hello,
I have an Evinrude 150, (1989), E150TXCEM. While doing winterizing chores today I noticed a leak from the left side power trim cylinder, around where the shaft goes. Is this a difficult repair?
Will I need special tools to get it apart? I have the manual for the engine and am a mechanic by day, but not an outboard mechanic.

thanks,
Kevin

Re: Evinrude power trim leak

Its a easy job if you got the tool. The end cap is avalible with the orings and seals already on it so its just a matter of taking it out.Tilt the engine all the way up and engage the trailer lock, then unscrew the manual release for the trim(this will relive the pressure).Have a bucket ready because some oil will come out when you remove the end cap, remove the cap and install the new one. One thing you sould check is for pitting on the ram itself You may need to replace it as well.Once its back together remove the plug in the oil reservoir and top of the fluid, tighten the manual release and run it up and down a few times then top off the oil, its self bleeding.

Thanks for the reply, I'll Track down the end cap
and replace it, probably both if one is already leaking.
