Hi folks, was wondering if anyone out there has an Evenrude 'Simplex' Remote?
Mine is on an Oday 22 built in 1975.
It has steering and throttle control.
If so I would like to quiz you on it. I want to make it work on a 9.9 Evinrude.
Thanks in advance.

What's the question? It takes an adapter kit to connect it to the motor if that's what you mean. There probably aren't too many of those adapter kits around.

I am wondering how it connects to the motor, you wouldn't have a photo of the connections would you?
My e-mail is jackhartjr@aol.com

What does the little knob on the top do, also the one on the left as you are looking at it.
I have a starter switch just above the remote.
It is a 75' model boat, I just got an 85' Evenrude 9.9 Yachtwin motor which was designed for sailboats.
F__R, you wouldn't have an idea where I could find one of the adaptor kits...or start looking would you? I actually have the two cables that go to the engine.
Thanks again in advance.

You may have to rube Golberg it.The shifter is easier. Just forward of the shift handle you MAY see two indents that are ,or could be drilled and tapped to accept the hardware for the shifter assy. The throttle, well, first look at the throttle linkage rod that connects up under the flywheel on the port side ,inside the eng.At the foot of that MIGHT be a curved arm with a pin that doesnt seem to do anything, pointing upward. IF it's there, that is where you would attache the throttle ,the kind with the stainless slide over clip. Then forward ,in the cowling pan ,might be tappings.like I described on the shifter ,to accept the throttle cable to secure it.I believe the handle must be removed so as to gain access for the cable. My suggestion is to find an engine ready to go,but the sailmasters and the like ,SOME were ready for almost any application,If you have a patient OMC dealer,he should be able to get the parts. It could be costly,so you might look for a motor ,on EBAY perhaps, mabe a blown eng ,where you could swap your powerhead,P/h swap would be easier I think.

Hi Mike, it appears this one came ready to accept the kits, am looking for the parts now. The shifter will mount just like you said. For the throttle I remove the Stop Switch, mount the cable there and I am pretty sure it attaches like you said. Thanks to all for the replys.

You can see the parts involved and get the part numbers on-line. Copy and past this into your browser (without the quotation marks
"http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E" When you get there, select O B Accessories from the Products drop-down list.
