Evinrude Sporster...Help!

i got this motor in a trade for a tent....I don't see any number plate on it. It is a 2 culinder, twist throttle, long shaft. It is dark blue with a white cover. I don't see any number on it, just "Sporster" on a plate by the top cover handle. Thanks

bassrich <br />Can't be sure of the year, but I believe it's a 25 HP rude you have. Check out the pics and info below and see if it's close. Look around on the powerhead and see if you can find a small welsh plug about the size of a quarter. look for numbers/Letters on there that may help to identify it better. Thanks a million..the pix really help. I know nothing about outboards. The Sportster picture looks very much like the unit I have....I think the drive has been extended, as mine seems taller. I'll look further for any numbers. Is there a manual available for this unit...I'd like to try and get it working. Seems to spin freely and have compression. Carb and block look rebuilt, but choke linkage is gone...are parts still available? Thanks again.

If you can find some numbers to narrow it down, we can point you to the correct manual. There may have been Long & Short Shaft versions the year yours was made.

Hi again....finally had a chance to search for numbers again. I found what I think is the plug you asked about. Number on it is j2435836....evinrude sporster...looking for year, manual, parts availability...thanks again.
