I ended up getting the Larson with the 75hp Starflite. Got it for $300 and I'm planning it to be a starter boat for my daughter to learn on while we restore her boat. I'll leave this motor on this boat. Larson.jpg Starflite.jpg Starflite2.jpg

I thought I'd gotten a great original Starflite 7 motor. Yours beats mine handily. Nice score.

If it runs and shifts, it'll push that Larson just fine.

That rig is in beautiful shape cosmetically. The motor you picked up is a 1965 model. As long as those push-button controls are in good shape, so are you! Take care of it. It is funny to see the cable and pulley steering on a motor that large. Probably around 1971 the BIA or MOT ruled that you could no longer buy a new cable and pulley setup for anything over 40 total horsepower (single 40 or a pair of 20s). Looking back at the part #s for the connectors, most of the stuff was shared with the 40s anyway, so without telling anyone, the parts were still available, just not cataloged for that application.
$300, score!!

OMC did make a power tilt kit for that motor. If you feel like searching for the Holy Grail, it was part # 382713.

We took it out for a test run tonight...started up so fast I could hardly believe it! Runs like a top. Purrs so nicely, no misses or hiccups. The shifter works perfectly. Color me lucky...

What the---?? You bought that for $300 and had to hesitate? I thought you were looking at some kind of POS. That is a beautiful rig and you stole it.
BTW, Power TILT was available for that motor, but not Power tilt & trim. The tilt cylinder replaced one of the shock absorbers and the pump motor bolted on the side.

Those are excellent / rugged motors.--A little thirsty maybe.---Easy to maintain without a lot of special tools / manuals too.-----They run nice and may outlast some of the new stuff leaving the factory today.
