Evinrude Starflite 450 V-4, How old?

My brother has an old boat (it has fins like a 57 caddi) and the motor on it is an Evinrude Starflite 450, V-4. I tried to get a model/serial # but its on the transon plate and couldnt get to it. Anyone have an idea what size or how old it is? He is thinnking bout parting it out, I suggested here or ebay. He had very little tied up in motor but it looks OLD!!!

We would need a model number to determine the exact year

Chris, there was no way I could get a serial/model #. Could you give me a range of manufacture of that type?

It is a 1958 or 1959, 50 horsepower. If you had said "four-fifty" they probably would have recognized it. Go to http://www.old-omc.de/ and compare the decals, etc.

I had to ponder that one a bit too.
A 1958 has a metal hood, a 1959 has a fiberglass hood. That should make it easy.

Thanks guys, my handwritten notes said 450, I didnt get it either!! It has a metal cover so I guess that narrows it down. Now what to do with it ?
