I have a 48 hp evinrude with a dead top cylinder. Here is what I've done so far:
Plugs are good, plug wires are good, cleaned carbs but did not take apart, both coils are good, emptied and cleaned gas tank and lines.
Motor fires right up and the bottom cylinder runs fine.
Any thoughts?

Assuming you have decent compression, I'd check the high speed jet on the carb feeding the dead cylinder. If something is blocking it, you'd lose the cylinder it was feeding.

Good luck.

What do you mean by the top cylinder is dead? Do you have fuel or spark?
