Re: Evinrude Trade?

From the pictures I can't be sure, but the boat looks very much like an Albacore, a great class of dinghy but not a speedboat.....and 15 HP would be a waste of effort and potentially dangerous and unstable. You are asking a specifically designed craft to do something entirely different from its intended purpose.
The motor trade could be evaluated on its merits but if you want to continue using that boat, you may already be pushing the envelope with 4 HP.
On the other hand, fishing out of a sailboat is great....do you have the mast and sails?...:)

(Bob : "I just got a 15 HP Evinrude for my wife for Christmas" Pete : "Wow....great trade"....:D)

Re: Evinrude Trade?

Thanks everyone, Great suggestions!!

The walk from where i have the boat docked to where i keep it is no more than 50 yards, though i know it'll be a significant weight increase.

I primarily use the boat to go cruising up and down this canal, which eventually empties out into a lake. The motor pushes the boat ok, i just wanted something a bit faster. I didn't take into account the possible unstable factors of the boat at that speed.

15 is way too much motor for that boat. It will be a waste of power and fuel at best, and dangerous at worst.
