That plug on the side of the reservoir is the place to check the oil level. If the fluid is not pink and clear, it may be diluted with water. That could be why it may seem overfull. (the oil should be full to the bottom of the fill hole.) You can try to evacuate the system (drain it) then try to refill it with new oil, then see what happens. You would need to open up some of the high pressure lines in order to fully drain it. It may start working again. I'd recheck it periodically, as the oil may get contaminated again, indicating a seal leak in the system. At that point, you'd need to start looking for source of the leak.
