Just recently got a boat with a 140 on it at first no spark on 2 cylinders got that fixed the engine hits 120 on all cylinders but there is oil coming out of the carbs i am thinking that the oil pump is stuck seeing as how it mixes itself have no idea how to identify the plug on the block is gone and the sticker on the mountain bracket is partially damaged all i could get out of it was E140TL and G1739 the rest is missing would really like some help thanks

my bet is that the motor was stored, tilted, which opens the floats, fuel line disconnected. the mix in carbs, evaporated, the pressure of heat, etc, put pressure on oil tank, thus the carbs filled with oil, instead of mixed fuel.

happens all the time, especially if oil tank is higher than the VRO/OMS pump.

drain your carbs, and then connect fuel line with drain plugs out. the bottom carbs will get gas first, flush them out, by pumping the bulb. install bottom drain plugs, and repeat until all carbs have been flushed.

now pump up fuel line and start as normal, it will smoke alot at first.

Your motor is probably from 1988. The powerpack part number and the wires coming from the port temperature switch should nail it down.

TD is correct that the oil problem will be lessened by storing the boat in the running position. It will also help to service the recirculation check valves after you de-carb the engine.
