Re: Evinrude VRO

Before i bypass the vapour pump does any one think that could cause any damage to the bearings?

Well f@!K me.Bypassed the vapour pump and blocked the out let from the vapous seperater and guess what? The bloody oms pump f@!rkin worked.Clicking every 15 to 20 seconds instead of every second. Not sure if it was the pump or the rubber o ring between the vapour pump and the seperator.Dont care, its a new pump for me.Process of elimination and help from the members of this site saved me a **** load of money having a mechanic do exactly what i did, except i probably would have all new fuel lines, new primer bulb, water seperator and new oms pump. Not saying all outboard mechanics are like that but alot do just swap parts till the problem is fixed. Thanks to all who gave me advice.More people with outboard problems that end up solving them need to post the out come and how the problem was solved.I chased alot of problems with similar symptoms but no out come.Reading other posts really does help and if you know how it was fixed in the end really helps. Thanks again.

Congrat's on the fix and give yourself a pat on the back. Nice feeling when you finally figure out a problem.
