Interesting, I've towed in more boats than I can count over the last 45 years and of all of those boats, only 2 of then had Merc's hanging off the back.

i was talking about the portable FOURSTROKE outboards that evinrude manfuactured this year actually.(the dealer told me they were all the same) I was not talking about a 115 , thats not even a comparisson, the evinrudes are etecs, vs the mercury fourstroke. i have a 2007 115 etec and i wouldnt trade it for anything.

well i can see only two scenarios for that......either the rest tossed the cranky merc to the bottom.....or you are missing seven fingers! :p ( PLEASE dont get bent outta shape over this post......just poking you in the ribs!! lol)

I'm not at all bent ouot of shape. It's just what has happened too me. I have towed in ALL makes and sizes of outboards and stern/jet drives. I think I have used more fuel towing boats than towing skiers over the years. Out of all of those I think the most common was the OMC's before they went to the modern lower units. Biggest was a Johnson V-8. It was his 3rd time out with it and it died less than 100 yards from my boat while we were having lunch. He ran his battery dead trying to get it to fire.

Johnson V8s were built long after they went to modern lower units.

Come to think of it...did they ever build a V8?

During the mid 1980s Evinrude and Johnson made two V8s
Basicly they took two V4 loopers and stacked them
