Evinrude, What year?

I have an Evinrude 4 outboard motor and I need to know what year it is, The model number is 4808E and serial number is E0002489. We were out yesterday when it scraped bottom and broke a white round piece in the propellor, it has a carter key that runs through it. Now the thing won't drive any more and the prop isn't turning. It still statrs and Runs though. Help!!!!

Sounds like you broke the shear pin.

think so too but can't locate the part I need. It it white plastic like cog of some sort.

come on surely someone out there can help me or at least tell me where to go to find out my engine year have tried everything
