Hi,

A guy near me is offering to sell me 2 gallons of XD-50 2-stroke oil for ~$25. He got a new boat with a 4-stroke and doesn't need it anymore.

I know this is a good deal and seems to be good oil, but is it good for my 1999 Merc 115? Am I better sticking with Mercury (Quicksilver) oil or does it not really matter?

Also, it's probably from last season (if not before). Any issues with 2-stroke oil going bad?

Thanks,
Scott

Oil is not just oil, but in this case you should be ok.

XD-50 is a semi synthetic 2 stroke tc-w3 oil. It can be used for both direct inject and premix applications. Og for it or juve me his number. I'll buy it. Hell the amount of this stuff that I have been going thru in the last week is nuts. Do it and you will not have any problems.

j_k_bisson - thanks, I'll go this afternoon and get it.

I don't know what kind of oil is in there now, just what ever the P/O used. All I know is that it's green and the oil tank is about 1/2 full. Any problems with mixing it with what's currently in my oil tank (oil injection on engine)? Or should I let the tank run almost empty and then drain it before adding the new stuff?

Thanks,
Scott

Let it get low then fill it. Best way of switching. Just make sure it does not go empty. Then you'll have other problems.
