Can i drive in salt water, and it is true that for this type of engine have 2 type of thermostat.One for salt water at 60 C and for fresh water at 80C http://www.epinions.com/boat-Motors-All-Evinrude_5_HP[/img]

Naturally, almost all outboards (with the exception of Briggs & Stratton) can be operated in salt water.

I only see one part number for the thermostat, so I would have to say no, there is only a salt water thermostat. I really don't see why they would ever have two different ones anyway.

You will have to look it up as a Johnson though, as there is no such thing as an 2007 Evinrude 5hp in North America.

never hear of salt or freshwater thermostats.most are stainless now.
