I am working on a 1974 evinrude outboard. this motor was brought to me because it would not start or run except on starting fluid(according to the customer).I rebuilt the carburetor and the fuel pump assembly. At an idle the engine runs beautifuly, but if i accelerate the engine it starts to run rich and eventually will return to an idle speed (even though the throttle is wide open). if I slowly return the throttle back to idle the engine start to run beautifuly again.<br />I removed the carb again just to recheck my work and all seems good in carbville
the fuel pump assembly has also been removed and rechecked again all seems good here too. i have replaced the spark plugs twice now due to fouling. if i never rev it up it would run all day long and never foul out a plug. your assistance would be appreciated. by the way i did check the compression. no problem here both 130 even .
