Exaust riser to water jacket gasket. 1977 Mercruiser 888

When re-installing riser/ elbo on top of the waterjacket, should I use sealer in addition to the gasket or not? If so, which sealer is recommended? <br /><br />I think that rtv sealer compressed as much as you need to in order to tighten the riser will squeeze out so much so that you wouldn't see any benifit.

Ultra Black RTV....<br />A Very Thin Film.... As thin as you can smire it on... More is Not better than Less with RTV Silicone.... If you see it ooze out the outside, It's doing the same on the Inside... That's the Bad Part...<br />I rarely see problems from too little, But Have seen Very Expensive Junk, from Too Much....
