Heat gun and a plastic spatula or bondo spreader then rapid remover for what ever adhesive is still stuck to it less chance of burying the paint with a rotating device.

Used 3m wheels for a long, long time! They work well, and unless you really try hard, they won't burn paint or fiberglass. Just follow up with goo-gone or wd40 to remove any left over adhesive.

Yup, a fan of the eraser wheel here too. There is a knack to using it well. You get pretty good about the time you're finished....

Yes, NAPA sells a wheel and also I have found Plastic Razor Blades are really a fun tool too that will not scratch.
