after problem engine rebored and allegedly new oil pump (?) installed (mechanic now retired). Ever since I have had problems with excess oil usage and lots of smoke. I appear to be using approximately double what I should be, ie; 12 litres of fuel to 1 litre of oil - where I should be using 25 litres of fuel to 1 litre of oil. I am concidering returning to mixing my own fuel/oil, but before I do I would like to find out the reason behind the excess oil consumption and smokiness.

I would like to know the following;

1. Could the previous mechanic have done something to the oil injection system to allow excess oil to go through the engine.

2. Can you adjust the oil flow into the injection system - If so how ?

3. Are there any problems with disconnecting the oil injection system and reverting to mising own fuel/oil - If not, how is it done.

On top of all this the engine itself seems to running fine with no other problems.

Hi Mal 20146

If you have some kind of restriction in your fuel supple lines, the vro system can supply a higher oil/fuel mix. Check if fuel flows unrestricted, i.exa by trying another portable tank.

Have you checked by mesuring oil comsumption compared to gas, that this in fact is the case.

Be aware VRO2 systems always mix 1:50, if you had an earlier version, mix could vary between 1:75 and 1:50.

VRO system is easy to disable - do a search on VRO + removal, several threads gives exact procedures. Be sure to theck the overheat warning system as described after removal. Remember to Premix ;)

Happy boating.
