i just bought the hummingbird 525 fishfinder, i wnast ot hook the transducer to my trolling motor. i was planning on buying teh mounting bracket for $20. as i am reading the manual it says you can exchange transducers. heres the deal, i send them the trnsducer and $44 and tehy send me the puck transducer that mounts on the troller. such a deal?
my question, if i choose the mount the transom transducer on my troller will it operate as effectively as the one HB wants me to exchange and pay $$ for?

Re: exchanging transducer

Certainly! A puck style transducer is generally designed to fit the contour of the trolling motor and is simply held on with a large stainless steel hose clamp. It will do exactly the same thing as a transducer you would mount on the transom. In fact, you can get a transducer switch so you can have a transducer on the stern as well. Under way, switch to the stern unit. When fishing, switch to the troller mount.
