I have found that the Tempo style and other muffs with the rectangular cups don't fit as well as they used to, I also think that the rubber is stiffer than it used to be, I found the best ones are the Mercruiser/Quicksilver round ones with the metal rod clamp.
Also something else you can do if your boat has been sitting on land a long time to get the pump to prime right away.....
Hook up your muffs and turn on the water.
Go up to the front of the engine and disconnect the raw water intake hose at the thermostat housing. Fill this hose with water and re-connect it. This will put water right in the impeller housing. Then start up. I do this every time the boat has sat on land for more than a week or 2 and you get water out of the exhaust housing right away.
