Exhaust bellows wont stay on????

Hi Guys
on my new project putting a 7.4L into my SeaRay 268, I have it up and running with all new gimbal seals but for the life of me I cant get the exhaust bellows to stay on? At first I thought it was pulling off when I would trim it up but the last time I reinstalled it I left it trimmed down and after 2 minutes of the engine running on muffs it blew off again I have installed it twice with bellows adhesive and last time with contact cement but same result.
What I did notice too is while it was running on land there really wasn't much water coming out the prop but mostly out the relief holes at the gimbal. I'm wondering if there might be an obstruction in the lower unit (Bravo 1) like maybe an exhaust flapper? I also noticed yesterday that there seems to be relief holes above the cavitation plate, are they connected to the exhaust port too? cause no water or exhaust seems to be coming from there either.

I could no get the exhaust bellows to stay on either with any of my 7.4L engines. So, I went with the tube instead of the bellows.

I have an Alpha drive and never was able to get it to stay on. Tried adhesive etc. I have gone to the tube and it works great.

Looks like this, but if your bellows will not stay connected, what you have will work about the same, just cut part of it off

The boat will be a bit louder with them. I ran them this year on my twin 180's and after I pull it this year I?m going back to the bellows to quiet it down.

The noise gets to be a bit annoying if you are cruising any distance...it's not terrible but my days of loud motors is over. When I'm out I like peace and quiet.

When the boat comes up on lane the exhaust exists above the Ventilation plate at the transom assembly, it does not go thru the prop

It is just connected to the transom plate at the boat side, not the gimbal housing side

instead of all of your exhaust passing through the drive and out the idle ports and back of the prop,some of the exhaust (probably a lot from your engine since it's a large motor) escapes around the pipe it's suppose to be passing through.

I believe they came up with this pipe specifically because the 7.4 motor was causing the bellows to expand and wear down the u joint bellows causing premature failure...you probably SHOULD have this part on your transom instead of the one you are having troubles with.

Thanks Guys, my kit came with the exhaust tube too so I will install it now.

Ayuh,..... I'll Never, Ever install another exhaust Bellows,.....

The tube is a huge improvement in my mind,....

They both keep the heat outa the other rubber in that area,....

I have a Volvo Penta and the 7.4 DP290 the Bellows is either collapsing or getting excessive back pressure the bellows haps popped off and the engine runs great Not sure if engine runs correctly with the bellows on it dd bogg down and then recovered found when I took boat out of the water that the bellows on one end came off.
