Exhaust drip or gear oil?

I have a 1981 18hp Mercury that is dripping something. The drip is coming from behind the prop. Good ole Uncle Scott put new prop seals in it last year before I bought the motor from him. Here are some pictures of the oil. It looks like a greenish tint but maybe not. The 2 cycle oil I use is bright blue. What do you guys think it is? Thanks in advance

Does it smell like gas-oil. or like gear oil. Most gear oils stink to high heaven, and it is next to impossible to get the stench off you hands, or out of clothing

There are few other seals that can leak, shift shaft, drive shaft seals under the water pump, Prop shaft bearing carrier to gearcase seal. I suggest pressure and vacuum tests be done on the case

Thank you for the information guys. Can I test for leaks with this thing here.? I'm dreading the results. Getting the lower unit back on is a major hassle. T he shift linkage, water tube and drive shaft all have to be in the perfect spot or else it won't go back in place. 1.PNG
