I have 2 250cui IL6 engines, one is a Mercruiser the other is a GM block with an after market manifold. The after market manifold is corroded beyond repair. The mercruiser block and manifold are in good condition. I only have one exhaust elbow which is on the after market manifold. The side openings (cooling passages?) are not the same size as the openings on the Mercruiser manifold. The openings are larger on the manifold than on the elbow. Does this matter? Can I use this elbow (76351) with the mercruiser manifold (GM 58759)?

Thanks in advance......

Re: Exhaust Elbow

i would find the proper one, you dont want to have a flow problem that could lead to overheating and a tow in if you break down. the elbow will be less $ than the tow ya mon

Re: Exhaust Elbow

Take the elbow off and compare water passages. If they are the same and the bolt pattern is same get a gasket and try it out. Be sure to check for leaks and overheating before taking it out.

Re: Exhaust Elbow

ooops! You did say they weren't the same. It could be from corrosion. It steal coul;d possibly work if the side walls are not to thin. Some machine shops can plane the manifold down to fat sides, but, you have to take the studs out.
