I just had to pull my boat due the hurricane that the East Coast was getting. During a land start I noticed that there was exhaust and a little spitting of water coming from the lower unit where the shift cable attaches. Is this normal? FYI it is a Alpha one MR

Re: exhaust leak

It's NOT normal if it's actually coming FROM the lower unit (red arrow area in the second image below). The shift cable area ("B" in the first and "A" in the second figures below) should be sealed off from water/exhaust intrusion.

If it's water just spitting out of the relief ports from the exhaust pipe on the transom side then I believe that's normal.

Re: exhaust leak

You probably have a small tear in the exhaust bellow.
