Exhaust Manifolds...

So since i've owned my Sea Ray, there's been a crack in the starboard manifold...it's gotten worse over the years...water pouring into my bilge...I had it welded but no luck. I'm assuming there was a freeze involved with a previous owner, as the port side is a jobber.... So, Now, do I risk the Aluminum GLM kit, and lighten up the boat a bit, (I'm not against a little bit of finish work) or get the cast sierra off of iBoats and save a few $$$......Opinions?

Ayuh,... I believe the Sierras are also GLMs...

If ya buy GLMs, check the machined surfaces for Flatness,...
I had to remachine the set I bought...

Re: Exhaust Manifolds...

Aluminum manifolds would be for fresh water . . .

'Barr' or 'Osco' would probably be better bets than the GLM.

I recently purchased a set of Barr manifolds/elbows for my 7.4L they were A-OK.

She's a land-locked trailer boat, only sees fresh water...I'll google the other options....

Osco Works out to more than OEM.
Barr website is broken. :/

The Mercruiser parts are also very well-made. I use those when I swap-out my exhaust components.

Might be just buying mercruiser....by the time I buy one and pay exorbitant shipping...I could just get one from a dealer. :( I wanted aluminum though.

Re: Exhaust Manifolds...

kit looks like steel....I really just need the one manifold, but I'm romanced by the weight savings of aluminum...I found a canadian distributor for GLM, e-mailed them to see what price I can get on the aluminum kit...if It's too pricey, I'll just get the one merc manifold, and use the $$ elsewhere..
