Hello , I just R&R my exhaust manifolds and noticed only one side had a exhaust flapper.
1986 OMC 4.3 stringer
I have heard they have been discontinued to use on newer models.
My 1972 threw the transom V-Drive Stevens flat bottom
Did not have any flappers, never was a problem.
So if the V-Drive did not need them why would my Stringer need them?
Both are the same configuration and height from the lake.
just trying to make sense of this.

different style drives. Stringers get flappers.

the remnants of your flapper is probably stuck in the intermediate housing.

I did run water threw it and it is not blocked.

Has nothing to do with how you beach, has to do with slowing down and launching

do what you want your comparing apples to potatoes in an attempt to justify not buying a new flapper. Stringers get flappers. they do need them
