Exhaust to Gimbal Connection

I'm getting towards the end of a restore on a '95 Crownline (see thread) and have a question about the exhaust connection to the gimbal housing. The service manual does not show any kind of adhesive or liquid gasket being applied but mine clearly had something applied. I have the replacement gasket on order but should I be applying something in addition? I have Permatex Ultra Blue handy but not sure if I should apply it (or something else) or just leave it dry. I have not cleaned up the surfaces yet but there are no obvious issues with the surfaces.

Manual list to use 92-25234 Sound blanket glue, but this has been superseded by Bellows adhesive 86166Q1

It just list to use it, no mention of how much
I would probably use a liberal amount, won't hurt

Thanks! I also see it now in the materials list but no mention of it in the instructions. There was a good bit of whatever was on it originally (I assume it was the sound blanket glue) so I'll do the same with bellows adhesive.

I've replaced the shifter cable, bellows, piping, etc so should be good there. I do have to replace a few of the studs in the housing as they were rusted out from the transom water intrusion, hence the restore.
