Just ran my 1969 7.5hp merc this morning. It fired right up and seemed to be running well. I did notice the exhaust water was pretty hot. I was able to keep my hand in the stream, so it wasn't scalding but MUCH hotter than my other 140hp I/O motor. This is my first OB, so I'm not sure if this is normal for these old Mercs or maybe running in a trash can would cause the motor to run a bit hotter?
The previous owner said the impeller was changed, but I'm going to change it again anyway. Could this a sign of some bigger issues, or just normal?
