The engine, transom assy, and outdrive are brand new. Hasn't been in the water yet. It was a complete boat rebuild.
I understand that, I was responding to you suggesting you'd put closed cooling on it next winter. Forgive me if I'm wrong (I live in the southern hemisphere and we're just heading into winter now, so you should be finishing winter), but I read that as you'll use the boat all this summer, THEN consider putting closed cooling on? If so, I'm saying 'not a good idea'... If you want closed cooling put it on now, not after you've been running the engine in the briny...

I used a full closed system from Monitor Products. My 1996 5.7L block came from a truck so was able to go full closed system. If you go this route, it takes a little work to do the install due to hose differences and position of the fittings on the exhaust manifolds and risers. I even had an issue with the routing of the fuel line to my carb due to the size and design of the TStat housing on the Monitor Products system. I am still working on the seawater pump bracket not fitting quite right on my 96 block and then I have to figure out where and how to put in the seawater pickup. Seawater pump in addition to the drive pump is recommended for full closed system. So, think about that now in your decision process.
