I am looking to have a power head removed from a seemingly clean salt water Johnson, Ocean Runner 175, as well as a super clean freshwater only Johnson Fast Strike 175. then have the Fast Strike's power head installed on the Ocean Runner(extra long shaft)midsection and LU. Both motors are mounted on individual engine stands. I would drop the stand and motors off with a flat bed trailer. I am looking for a ball park estimate of time for removing the motors and stand and doing the work and replacing them back on my trailer...including any new hardware that MIGHT be needed..like the steering arm to power head bolts and bushings.

BOTH motors are post 95 wiring.

so far I have one estimate, for at LEAST 8 hours of labor...... off the top of my head I was thinking this should be a 5 hour job...but I have only removed 3 power heads two of which were V4 ocean runners. and one that was a V6 ocean runner, so my estimate might be off. One took me about 2 hours( lots of corrosion) and one took less than 30 minutes!!!! (1995 Evinrude V6)

what would you guys GUESS... I know its dynamic!!!

thanks

The salt issue makes it hard to give a estimate as you don't know what might be frozen.

well I went to spray some penetrating oil on the salt water used motor. I decided to remove the lower colwing and once there, I just went ahead and tried to loosen the bolts that hold the power head to the midsection, and with in about 45 minutes I had the power head removed.... one bolt broke and it was probably already cracked...because it didn't take much to turn it....it is one of the steering arm bolts... no big deal as that power head had a bad cylinder... glad I decided to just do it myself..i couldn't justify AT LEAST $800....when I am thinking I could do it on a Saturday..
