So a pontoon caught my eye on craigslist due to the design of the "toons" it looks like a 8ft by 24ft semi-v with 3-4ft of the center cut out.

24' Pontoon Boat, Runs, 150hp

with that motor and hull it seems like it should be able to reach a pretty good speed. Any info or thoughts to share on these things? it would make a good project for when i get back at the end of summer.

It looks like an aluminum catamaran design or the predecessor to the deck boats we see everywhere. The upside is it will be considerably faster than a pontoon of equal size, length, and motor. The downside is it will ride like a flat bottom boat at speed sitting up on the water and not like a pontoon/tritoon or a deep v that cuts through the water. Not a bad boat by any means though.

oh ya for sure not 3200. Just never seen a pontoon with that design. If the floor and motor were solid the most i ever offer is 2000-2500

Yeah if the motor runs I wouldn't give over 3100 for it. It does look like it should have one of those air boat motors on it. I was fishing a canal along a black top road down in Florida and an air boat came up from the lake on the other side of the road and crossed the black top and into the canal on my side. Those things must be nearly indestructable. I have seen air boats that go over 20' high levees and even flatten small trees to get across the levee.

Maybe you can get him to kick in some of what he is smoking too, 3200 for that, WOW!

Man that thing is clapped out, looking at the condition of the boat I really doubt he took any better care of the engine so it has probably never had the lower oil changed or changed the water pump, does it even run.

Looks like the base is there, you have a frame, tubes and maybe an engine but really nothing else, it would make a good project but you would have to pick it up super cheap like 600-800 bucks.

The tubes almost look like the cut a giant jon boat in half, it is an interesting design that should work pretty well.

Re: Explain this pontoon design

Looks ideal for what it seems someone it was using it for, SCUBA. it's covered in dive stickers and since it sits lower and has a big open front deck it would be great as a dive platform.

As to value, i'd put it at the value of the motor. One big concern is the trailer, looks to be a modified v-hull trailer built up with plywood and 4x4s. Likely pressure treated. If those tubes are resting on pressure treated wood they may be ruined.
