My original 3yr warranty on my 2004 ev 225DI expired last month and I'm now on the 4yr "Premium Marine Protection" extended warranty that I had purchased from the evinrude dealer. After getting a "no oil" alarm I dropped it off at the local evinrude dealer who stated the oil pump needs replacement. No problem, I have the extended warranty right, everything should be covered. Nope. The dealer explains to me that they only receive a nominal hourly rate from "Premium Marine Protection" and I would be charged the difference between their rate of 103$ an hour from the rate "PMP" is going to pay them. I have been around many dealers and have never heard of this. My friend just had his engine replaced with the same warranty at a different dealership and was charged zero from the dealer. The evinrude dealer excepted the warranty in full and charged nothing, and thanked him for his business. I'm sure it is legal what they are doing to me but I am disgusted with evinrude and this dealer with what they are doing. I've voiced my displeasure with them but there is nothing more to do but pay my bill and take my business elsewhere. I can't believe Bombardier allows this to happen.
